Hi everybody,

I have 5 Illustrator CS5.1 files to translate, that I want to translate in SDL Trados 2011. Trados is telling me the files are not compatible. How would you proceed?
Regards,
Olivier

Graphic Software Nov 13, 2013

Hi,

As far as I know no CAT Tools handle graphic software, so there are not many options, the 2 I can think of are:

1) Convert your Illustrator files to pdf, Save As in Illustrator but then this would require converting the pdf to be able to handle it in a CAT tool

2) Download a trial version and translate directly in Illustrator.

Cheers,

Bernard

Hi,

Try this link: http://www.translationzone.com/openexchange/app/sysfilterforadobeillustratorcs2-cc-455.html?c=45428#45428

but it's a paid plug-in.

Cheers,

Bernard

@Bernard,

I tried a trial version of the plugin but it just didn't work for me. The plugin kept crashing.

I ended up using your second suggestion. I saved the Illustrator file as a pdf and memoQ that I used instead of Trados was able to process it. Then, from memoQ, I saved the target file as *.txt and was able to copy-paste each sentence in Illustrator.

Thank you for your help, Bernard.
