TM Maintenance -> Target text update

Hi,

I'm using the 2011 SP2R Studio and I wonder - is there any quick n' easy way of updating the whole target text following the TM maintenance?

The visible text is fine - the worst case scenario is to open the text in Editor view, find the segment and hit ctrl+T.

Problem is the non-editable part of the text. Such text won't open in the Editor view (the source for the non-editable part of the text is fo course my TM), I can see it only using the "View in web browser as target" function. When I find some text, that needs to be edited, I can only go to the "Translation memories" view, find the text to be edited and save the changes, but the changes won't be applied to the text in progress and I can find any easy way of applying the changes to the target (non-editable) text.

Any suggestions?
Pali

I’m a little confused. Dec 9, 2013

If the non-editable text can’t be seen in the Editor then how did it get into the TM in the first place?

What’s the filetype? Perhaps you can open the original file with slightly different settings to be able to extract the text you need?

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul,

the non-editable part of the text is the same for different projects. I had to translate the whole text at first (that's how the text got into my TM), but many other projects use the very same text in some sections (e.g. shelf life, handling). To make it easier for the translators we now get only the text that changes or needs slight modifications.

Sometimes, however, I need to apply some changes to the non-editable part of the text. Finding the text in the TM and changing it is no problem of course, I just can't figure how to get the updated text into the document I'm working on (I wouldn't see it in the Editor view, but I can check the changes in the View in browser as target view). The only way I can think of is to delete the project and recreate it, but I'm still hoping for a more elegant solution.

Kind regards,
Pali
