Dear colleagues,

In Studio 2014, I would like to have two different keyboard shortcuts for the same command. In the shortcut list, I can see that some commands do indeed have two shortcuts, divided by a comma. However, I can't find out how to enter a second shortcut, it will always erase the first one.

Many thanks in advance,
kind regards,
Erik

... but perhaps you can test a workaround? I have not tried this but the thought crossed my mind that you could perhaps copy the entry in your userprofile file and add it again with a different shortcut. I have no idea if this will work.

So export your user profile, then search for this:

<SettingsGroup Id="ShortcutsSettingsGroup">

In here you will find all the settings for shortcuts. So take this for example:

<Setting Id="Editor.MultiTermSearchViewPart">
<Value>F11, Control</Value>
</Setting>

Then copy it, and paste it in again with a new shortcut like this for example:

<Setting Id="Editor.MultiTermSearchViewPart">
<Value>F11, Control</Value>
</Setting>
<Setting Id="Editor.MultiTermSearchViewPart">
<Value>F12, Control</Value>
</Setting>

Or maybe try this...

<Setting Id="Editor.MultiTermSearchViewPart">
<Value>F11, Control</Value>
<Value>F12, Control</Value>
</Setting>

Just guessing again.

Then save it and import the edited settings back into your user profile. I’d be surprised if it works as it might not like the duplicated entry but you might get lucky!

Make sure you keep a copy of the original so you can put it back as it was!!

Regards

Paul
