Could anybody help, please?

I opened a Poedit file in Trados Studio 2011 (having downloaded the filter from SDL before).
Processed, generated target translation.
It seemed ok, no errors reported.

However, when trying to open the POEDIT file it is not possible and I can a message a kind of:

"incorrect catalogue: plural msgstr version used without msgid_plural"

any idea what could help me, please?

Many thanks in advance!

Maybe this would help Feb 13, 2014

Hi Jitka,

Take a look at this thread:

http://www.qcodo.com/forums/forum.php/2/757/

I quote:
---------------
"Well, poEdit comes up with:
“Broken catalog file: plural form msgstr used without msgid_plural
The line it highlights red is:
Results: 1 %s found.

After reading up on po format, it appears that the .po file needs to include a header setting in order for plurals to be valid.
In the case of a language (like english) that only has 1 way to do plurals, the header to include is:
Plural-Forms: nplurals=2; plural=(n != 1);

So the en.po file would start with:
“Plural-Forms: nplurals=2; plural=(n != 1);\n”

Ideally, the .po files should include other headers as well, as described here:
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-i18n/2004-July/msg00073.html
--------------

What you might try is make a copy of your file, then right click the copy and select to "open with Notepad" to see if there is such a header setting there (which might need to be adjusted/set according to the language in question)

Good luck!

Also make sure... Feb 13, 2014

... that you are using the latest version of the PO filetype as it was updated to be a little less strict and allow some of the less well formed PO files than it did originally.

So I would also download the latest one from the OpenExchange, then remove the one you currently have and install this one instead. You may get lucky.

Good advice to check the file though.

Regards

Paul
