I would like to select some segments an confirm them. I know that I can change status to Translated, but does that actually commit them to the TM? Ctrl+Enter doesn't work on a selection.

Here's how Feb 16, 2014

They have to be consecutive segments. Select your segments by clicking in the first segment, then in the extreme left column of the last segment while you hold your SHIFT key. Keep your finger on the SHIFT key, right-click in the extreme left column again and select CHANGE STATUS OF SEGMENT (or something like that, mine is in French), then choose the status you want.
The result is the same as translating your segments the other way.

This will not update the TM Feb 16, 2014

You can change the status to Translated then save and close the file. In "File" view, right click the file and choose "update main translation memories".
