Hi!

How do I open I file translated with MemoQ with my Studio 2011?

The files have a mqxliff extension.

I just want to open it, and do my proofreading with Studio.

Thanks!

Francesco

Plug-in Mar 7, 2014

Hi Francesco,

There's a plug-in for 2014 but not for 2011.

You might also... Mar 7, 2014

... be able to add *.mqxliff to the xliff filetype settings in Studio. This will allow you to open the file in Studio but it won't respect any of the proprietary extensions used by memoQ. So for proof reading you should be fine, but you should check the resultant target file in memoQ to make sure it’s still ok afterwards. I have done this in the past and had no problems, but you do need to be aware that changing statuses, adding comments etc. may be lost when going back to memoQ.

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul, this is great!

But how do actually add *.mqxliff to the xliff filetype settings in Studio?

Do you know the path?

I have Studio 2011.

Thanks!

Francesco

In the filetype settings Mar 7, 2014

Hi,

Go to Tools -> Options -> File Types -> XLIFF

Then in the file dialog wildcard expression just add the memoQ extension. So it might look like this:

*.xlf;*.xliff;*.mqxliff

Does that help?

Regards

Paul

Ah, ok now it opens. Thanks!!

When I open it a get these 2 warnings?

-The language abbreviation 'en' specified in the source file is not fully qualified for source language
-The language abbreviation 'it' specified in the source file is not fully qualified for target language

Any idea why?

Francesco

Yes... Mar 7, 2014

memoQ can use language codes that are not fully qualified. So en as opposed to en(US) or en(GB), and it as opposed to it(IT) or it(CH) for example.

So if the memoQ Project was created with these main groups as opposed to the specific languages that Studio always uses then you will get this warning. I think you should still be able to work on the file and save it without a problem but it would be worth you checking this by changing a couple of segments and then make sure everything goes back to memoQ satisfactorily.

It works for me, but I only tested a simple file.

Paul
