We have been using Studio 2011 to translate TTX files for quite a while now, and when we recently upgraded to Studio 2014 we expected to be able to do the same there. Have SP1

Unfortunately that is not the case, and when we have exported the files from Studio we get the error message "(40005): Unknown Exeption" when we try to open til file in Tageditor.

In addition we cannot do this from Studio 2011 either anymore, as we get the error "Filter definition "TTX 2.0 v 2.0.0.0" not found or could not be used to construct a generatir"

Have anybody experienced this as well, and hopefully found a solution to it??

This sounds like... Jun 3, 2014

... a Translators Workbench error rather than Studio. Did you check this KB article : http://kb.sdl.com/kb/article?ArticleId=1471&source=Article&c=12&cid=23

The reason you get the "Filter definition "TTX 2.0 v 2.0.0.0" not found... etc" error is probably because you tried to open the SDLXLIFF from Studio 2014 into Studio 2011 and Studio 2011 has no idea about the existence of such a filetype. Version 2 is new in Studio 2014.

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul

Have tried to see if KB #1471 could solve the problem, but that was not the case.

If TagEditor is to be blamed here, I think it is partly a problem with the compatibility between that and Studio 2014. This worked fine in Studio 2011 up until we installed Studio 2014.

Then we cannot get any TTX files to work, regardles of what original file type the TTX file is, and what version of Studio (2011 or 2014) we export the translated file from.

So far the only solution have been to export the content pof the TM from Studio and import it in Workbench. Then open the original TTX files (That still work) in TagEditor and complete the translation there.

Problem is that we have experienced huge segmentation differencies, meaning that we on some jobs have had to retranslate the whole text again. Meaning we can only do this on smaller jobs.

We really would like to use Studio 2014 as our main tool, but have to check the TTX files in TagEditor before we send the translation to our clients!

Can I see... Jun 4, 2014

... one of these problematic TTX files as you receive them prior to being processed in Studio?

Thanks

Paul

So... Jul 11, 2014

... what you are saying is that there is no compatibility when translating ttx files between versions 2011 and 2014 of Studio?

No... Jul 11, 2014

... what I am saying is that the filetypes are different and the new one supports things that the old one can't use because it doesn't have the capability. This means that whilst you can still translate the files between versions you may not be able to save the target for example. So after translation you would have to return the sdlxliff to the version of Studio that created it and then save the target.

IF YOU HAVE THIS PROBLEM!

Translating between them is fine.

Regards

Paul
