Trados 2007 Windows 7 (64bit)

I have sort of an odd issue that I could REALLY use some insight on. SDL seems to have locked their contact info behind a paywall, so I've come to ask the users.

Our office just upgraded tech. New computers, new servers, the works.
Everything is going fine with the desktops. They are Dell Optiplex 7010's and run perfect. Windows 7 Professional, 64bit operating system, Dell-installed Windows 7. Trados 2007 even seems to install on them just fine. With the exception of Trados 2007 Synergy, everything works.

However, we also got a few laptops that came with native Windows 8. We did purchase Windows 7, professional, 64 bit and installed that OS on the laptops instead, reformatting over Windows 8. The problem is, Trados 2007 goes through the installation, but hangs when it gets to the last step: "License/activation installation" or some such. It will not pop up with the window to enter the license key and the pregress bar remains just bouncing back and forth. If I cancel the installation of that last part, the licensing software, and run Translators Workbench or Tag Editor, nothing comes up. The program won't start, though the process appears in the Task Manager.

I don't understand why. We have the exact same OS on both the desktops and the laptops, however the laptops will not install Trados properly.

Can anyone offer ANY insight to this? Any ideas at all?
I've tried the obvious "run as admin" and "run compatibility mode" etc.

I'm going to go ahead and bump this.

Apparently the desktops don't work either. Trados actually INSTALLS on the desktop, but will not accept the activation key, unfortunately. It tells me that I've successfully registered, but will then continue to run in Demo mode. Again, Windows 7 Professional.

Can anyone help?
