Hello,

I recently started doing some translation work, both in university and as a freelance translator.

The freelance translation job is Chinese -> German and I am working on a novel together with 2 other translators. As I am translating the last chapters of the book, I would like to create a Translation Memory or Term Base (I've only just started using SDL so I'm not all that familiar) based on my 2 predecessors. However they both do not use SDL Trados but simply translate it as plain text.

Is there a way to still make use of their translations, or would I have to copy sentence by sentence?

Thanks for any help!
Paul

Hi Paul Oct 18, 2014

Of course, you can use the built in SDLTrados Studio Align function to create the memory from your colleague's plain text translation. To create memory using this feature you need both original file, and the translated file.

That was faster and easier than I thought. Thanks!
