Problem with Winalign projects (fix file paths)

I have to check some Winalign projects I have received from a freelancer. All I have are the project files and the source files.

When I open the project the following error appears:

(70155): At least one of the aligned documents is empty or has been removed from its original location.

Is there a way to fix the file paths so I can open the project?

Your help is much appreciated!

Hi Dimmo,
I think it's not a path problem, but files missing called

Without these, WinAlign can probably not open/recognize your alignment.

This is what I have Nov 18, 2014

Hi Mike,

Actually what I call projects are these files (see example):

Administration Act FINAL00001.WAF.trg
Administration Act FINAL00001.WAF.src
Administration Act FINAL00001.WAF
Administration Act FINAL.pjt

I have the source and target files on my computer (rtf files) but cannot see the file paths in the Winalign project settings - the respective fields in there are too small and the file paths are not fully visible. Otherwise I could "simulate" the file locations and open the projects.

I thought there is another way to relocate the source and target files in Winalign but I can't find it (or maybe there is no way to do this).

Obviously it's not possible to start a big Winalign project on one computer and finish it on another. We all know this software is outdated and its use is not recommended.

Still one file missing maybe? Nov 18, 2014

you should also have

Administration Act FINAL.txt

which is the most important file created by WinAlign. It contains all your aligned segments plus the settings for your project. It's in XML format starting like this:

RTF Preamble
{\f1 \fmodern\fprq1 \fcharset0 Courier New;}
{\f2 \fswiss\fprq2 \fcharset0 Arial;}
{\f3 \fcharset1 Times New Roman;}
{\f4 \fcharset0 Times New Roman;}}
{\St \cs3 {\StB \f1\cf11 }{\StN tw4winPopup}}
{\St \cs4 {\StB \f1\cf10 }{\StN tw4winJump}}
{\St \cs5 {\StB \f1\cf15 }{\StN tw4winExternal}}
{\St \cs6 {\StB \f1\cf6 }{\StN tw4winInternal}}}
End of RTF Preamble
Quality 90
[Your segments...]
I have taken out xml codes and replaced with plain text, because they will not be displayed in this post.
There is no path info in that file, the WinAlign path settings are read from registry, I think.

This file must be together with your other files in the same dir.
If it's not this file missing, then I'm afraid I can't help you.

The export Nov 18, 2014

Unfortunately I don't have the export files but I can find them.
I need to check if the freelancer has performed the task correctly. I can do this if I scroll down the Winalign project (my initial idea) or pre-translate the files.
