Studio 2014 SP2 and project templates

Hi all,

I remember when I installed a new service pack a while back, the new file filters in the service pack were not inherited by the many project templates I use.

Now that I have installed 2014 SP2, will I have to re-create all the project templates to use the new file type definitions?

Perhaps this was just an issue in the days of 2011, when the project also included a complete suite of file types.

Any info would be appreciated.

Just installed SP2 Nov 18, 2014

Everything went absolutely fine, all my settings, projects, open exchange applications are at their usual places, nothing has disappeared or got overwritten. The only thing I had to do was choosing 5 languages while opening for the first time.

Hi Phil,

This is Steve from SDL.

When upgrading from 2011 to Studio 2014 your settings will be carried over.
However its worth noting that as Studio 2014 has extended file definition support some changes are maybe needed for the new file filters
You can off course contact us direct at

Kind regards

Yes, it was probably when upgrading Nov 19, 2014

Yes, it was probably when upgrading from 2011 to 2014 that I had the problem. The update from SP1 to SP2 appears to have gone smoothly without the need to redefine the project templates.
