Hello to all.

I want to back up my MultiTerm iX termbases and can't find the folder the files are in order to make a copy to a remote location.

Many thanks in advance and regards.

Duplicate the default installation folder Dec 22, 2004

Hi Marocas,
The easiest way to create a backup is to duplicate the default installation folder. This is based on two assumptions: (1) you used the defaults during installation and (2) you created the termbase inside that folder.

The default folder is
Code:
c:\Program Files\TRADOS\MTiX\MultiTerm\Termbase

Hi Marocas,
The easiest way to create a backup is to duplicate the default installation folder. This is based on two assumptions: (1) you used the defaults during installation and (2) you created the termbase inside that folder.

The default folder is
Code:
c:\Program Files\TRADOS\MTiX\MultiTerm\Termbase

The names of the termbase files are not identical to the 'friendly' names you have assigned - the assignment is listed in the MTMaster.mdb file. Careful: don't change these assignments, and don't delete MTMaster.mdb.

Alternatively, you can save the data by
- saving the termbase definition (Termbase - Save Termbase Definition as...); and
- exporting all term entries.

The termbase definition (.xdt), plus the XML data exported will allow you to recreate the termbase. Duplicating the folder is easier, obviously, but restricts flexibility regarding database storage.

Folder Dec 23, 2004

Thanks Ralph for your support.

Is there a single place, a folder, where the all the componentes of the termabases are located?

It would be cleaner to back up (and restore) just that forlder instead of the full Trados installation folder.

Thanks in advance.

That's the one... Dec 23, 2004

Hi Pablo,
Sorry - I wasn't 100% precise in my choice of wording.

Is there a single place, a folder, where the all the componentes of the termabases are located?

That's the folder I mentioned (hence the name).

It would be cleaner to back up (and restore) just that forlder instead of the full Trados installation folder.

This isn't the full MTiX installation tree, but the default termbase folder.

HTH, Ralf
