No valid activation code for Studio 2014

I just bought the Studio 2014 upgrade (from 2011). I installed it, but now it asks me for the activation code, so deactivated Studio 2011, entered the activation code in Studio 2014, and it tells me that it is not valid.

I went to the SDL website, I do not have any Studio 2014 specific activation code. What next?

Any help will be appreciated.

NOTE: Why SDL has to make every single experience installing their products such a miserable experience? Why no respect for users?

I've been there Dec 22, 2014

It was quite confusing, after a while I noticed that when I log onto their website, there is an option like convert or sth. (I don't remember exactly and I have no way of recreating it now) next to Studio 2011 licence. I had to click on it and it meant that I won't be able to use 2011 any more.

Best Regard

The process is this... Dec 22, 2014

... return your 2011 Studio license and process the upgrade. This will get you a new license for Studio 2014. However, this doesn't mean you have to give up 2011 if you don't want to. Normally it would, but as we made a big change from 2011 to 2014 with the ribbon we thought it would be better to allow users a little slack.

So once you have the new activation code for Studio 2014 you install Studio 2014 and activate it. This will actually reactivate 2011 as well and now you will be able to use them both on the same machine. Only really useful during the transition I think because once you start using 2014 you may find you don't want to use 2011 any more.

Regards

Paul

Thank you, Stanislaw. After reading your post, I went to the site, and the thing says "Process upgrade", and it actually produces a new activation code for Studio 2014.

Thank you, Paul, I had done the steps before reading your post, but I appreciate your notes. I hope you are right, and I will not want to use 2011, which is what happened when I upgraded from 2007 to 2011.

Thank you Paul Dec 23, 2014

It is nice that I may use Studio 2011 after all but you are right - after switching to 2014 I have no intention of returning to it - I like 2014 much better.

Merry Christmas everyoneicon_smile.gif
