When you create a Studio project, you can choose whether you want to use "PerfectMatch" (PM) or not. What are the cons/risks if you use PM?

PM only applies to specific scenarios Feb 6, 2015

Perfect Match is useful in scenarios where you need to translate a file that is very similar to another one you have already translated in Studio. Typical cases are revisions of documents such as a slightly modified version of a contract or manual or guidelines.

In such a case, PM will not do a lookup in your TM in order to find matches fro the segments you want to translate, but it will compare the old version of your document against the new version and lock all segments that are identical. This method has the advantage that you are sure to get as match the sentence that was in your previous document, a certainty that you would not have if you retranslated against the TM because the segment suggested as a match might have been modified in the meantime and therefore be different from what it was in the original document.

I can't see any risks involved in using this feature. It is very useful, but keep in mind that it only works if you kept the SDLXLIFF from your previous project.
Some users delete their SDLXLIFFS in order to save disk space: doing this will not allow you to make use of Perfect Match.

You may also use it in cases where you get a modified version of the source document while you are still working on it's translation.
