Hello colleagues

Can anyone tell me why the Ctrl-S shortcut to save documents does not work?

For information:
- it appears in the shortcut customisation panel
- other shortcuts work.

This cost me a few hours' work because my reflex is to press Ctrl-S rather than click on the icon or use the menus.

Thanks for help.

Andreas

It does work... Feb 8, 2015

... maybe check your keyboard shortcuts in File -> Options. I have no idea why this would not work for you, but it does for me.

Regards

Paul

No - it does not work.

The panel you suggest is what I referred to as "the shortcut customisation panel" (I did actually look in help and searched online for solutions before posting here).

Any feedback from SDL programmers would be appreciated

In the meantime, I've had to reprogramme my brain to save by pressing the icon.

Autosave will save you until you solve the problem Feb 9, 2015

Andreas

Just want to make sure you know that Studio 2014 has an AutoSave feature. This means that you need to save your document only once (if you work in "Translate Single File" mode). Once you have done this, Studio will automatically save your document every 10 minutes (you can change this).

For the first save, use the floppy disk icon on the toolbar until you found out what the cause of your strange problem is.

How do you tell that the save does not work Feb 9, 2015

Hi Andreas

Just to make sure you are not embarking on a wrong path: how do you know that the SAVE command does not work? On second and subsequent operations this is so fast that you will not notice it happening, so how do you tell?

Walter

Should not the progress bar reflect the progression if autosave works? Feb 9, 2015

Hi! I am fairly new to Studio, and I was not aware of the autosave feature. I am not sure I am confident it actually does work, though. I have experienced that I have more or less finished the translation, but when I go to the File window, the progression bar has not moved at all. Only after I run Verify does it reflect how much I have done.

In my latest project I did save manually from time to time (once an hour or so), and then the progress bar did reflect how much I had done and how much was left.

AutoSave works fine Feb 9, 2015

Roy

I can assure yout that AutoSave works fine, provided it is activated, which it is by default. You may check this by going to File - Options - Editor, the check mark for "Enable Autosave" (at the bottom of the screen) should be set.

I don't think that the progress bar shown in the Files view is directly related to the saving of the SDLXLIFF file. It is a known fact that it does not seem to be updated constantly, so the best is to run the batch task "Translation Count" to be sure.

Walter :
I first realized after I had lost the work, and I didn't know why!
I then started paying attention to the asterisk that is present after the name of the document when there are unsaved changes

I find an alternative method to save using a shortcut key sequence Aug 21, 2016

Hi,

How about using a shortcut key sequence "Alt+F -> S"?
I feel this operation much easier than clicking on the Save button.

Regards,
Kaz
