Bilingual Word: Trados 2014 import problems & cutting tags

Dear SDL Trados support forum members,

Yesterday a client sent me a huge batch (65k words) for review, which contained bilingual RTF files made with 2007. These files include a lot of client-specific tags, such as .
My initial intention was to convert these files to SDL XLIFF (Trados 2014) -> review them there -> save target files back to bilingual RTF. Easier said than done, here is what I encountered on my noble quest:

1. Step 'Apply PerfectMatch+Pre-translate Files+Analyze Files' let only 2/3 of the files (8 out of 12) to pass through, as the other 1/3 failed to convert to SDL XLIFF with an error message saying "Name cannot begin with the ':' character" followed by usual numerical values. I tried converting to DOC and back to RTF, but nothing worked. Hence these files can't be opened for translation.
1.1. When single-opening the supposedly damaged files for translation, they open just fine. So this is the lesser part of the overall problem, which is likely, but not ultimately necessary to be solved.

2. When I later (immediately after opening a file in SDL XLIFF format) save it back to a bilingual Word format and then re-open it in Word to check if everything went fine, I notice that all these sophisticated tags referred above are cut precisely at the quote mark. For instance,

If anyone ever encountered this problem or has any (even distantly possible) idea of how it could be resolved, your feedback is deeply appreciated!
Please help, as otherwise I would have to go through these endless words in the slow and clumsy MS Word.
