Hello there,

I worked on a client-provided package (which was actually exported from World Server). The work went fine until I wanted to create the return package.

In SDL Trados Studio 2014 Freelance I right-click on the project and choose Create return package, then check the file for inclusion, click Next, Select radio button "File", click Browse, select destination folder and name, Finish, Close.

No error is reported in the creation process, but the produced return package (with WSXZ extension) is only 1KB which suggests something goes wrong in the creation process. In fact when I tried to import back the file in Worldserver it was rejected.

Any idea what might be going wrong?

Thank you.

I might add a strange complement.
In my mail archive, I saw that the same happened to me once in the past.
But right after that, I retried to create the return package and it worked.
This time however, I restarted Studio, rebooted the computer, tried probably about 10 times to no avail.

not a solution, but to deliver your text... Feb 16, 2015

Save a copy of the .sdlxliff file and send that to your client.
That will deliver your work.

If you convert the package to a zip file, can you see what is in it?

I cannot suggest any actual solution, but it may help in the meantime.

What's in a WSXZ file Feb 16, 2015

Thanks Christine for your suggestion.

I have already delivered the SDLXLIFF and the cleaned file, but I needed the return package to import back in WorldServer (which is my responsibility in the workflow).

I did what you suggest on a old, well-formed WSXZ (return package) file, renaming to .ZIP, and it turned out it's simply a ZIP file containing the SDLXLIFF files... (The unusuable return package was just an empty ZIP file. It was 22-byte long.)

So indeed since we created a ZIP with the SDLXLIFF and tried to import that in WorldServer. The file was not rejected this time, though it failed with a time-out.

But that seems to be the client's responsibility.

(The WorldServer platform is the client's in this case, not the agency's.)

How it ended up, and one general question about Studio return packages Feb 17, 2015

Just to document how this ended up.

The target file of the SDLXLIFF was an XLF file.
It turned out that the XLF file could be imported straight in the client's WorldServer system.

I'm wondering if, generally speaking, we can say that a Studio return package is just a ZIP file with one or several SDLXLIFF files in it, with its extension changed from .zip to .wsxz.
In which case I could simply have created the return package manually.
