Invisible tags in Studio 2011?

Every so often I translate a segment with no tags at all, and when I confirm I get an error message saying "Pair of tags removed". It's driving me mad, because obviously my only option is to leave the segment untranslated. Now I'm beginning to think these tags are there, but I just can't see them to write around them.

Any way around this?

How to show tags Mar 10, 2015

Go to Options>Editor and on the right hand side, under Formatting Display Style, select “Show all formatting and tags” (“Show all tags but do not show formatting” would also work for you).

Also, have a read of this blog post about WYSIWYG and tag display.
