Hello everyone,

i got a problem:
i can’t import the abbreviation list into the sdltm, ever the export.
only type abbreviation and press enter, it’s so hard, i have over 200 entries.
it is possible to do this with any tools?
automatically or semiautomatically import and export.

Workaround Apr 1, 2015

I don't think you can import/export abbreviation lists.

The best solution would be to create a new abbreviation list in a new Language Resource template. Then you can add that template to any TM in the future. They're standalone files, so you can import and export them to different TMs and different computers. The disadvantage is that you'll have to add your abbreviations by hand.

A workaround for now is:
Add one abbreviation by hand to your TM in Studio.
Now open your TM in a text editor. Browse to the abbreviation you've added (it's in plain text, whereas most of the TM will be meaningless). Add the other 200 abbreviations in the same format. Save the file.

Do this on a copy of your TM, just in case.

The reason for adding one abbreviation manually is because the default abbreviations won't appear in the text editor unless you have edited the abbr. list.

Do you really need 200 additional abbreviations? Apr 1, 2015

Are you really talking about "Abbreviations" and not about "Variables"?

The reason I ask is that the standard abbreviation list usually needs to be extended only very seldom, in cases where you come across a non-standard abbreviation that is not included in the default list.

This happens once in a while, but I can hardly imagine that you need to add 200 additional abbreviations.
Would be interesting to know more about your situation in this respect.

yes, the 200 abbreviation are important Apr 1, 2015

yes, the 200 abbreviation are important and they're not in the default list from .sdltm.
because i need them for right segmentation rules.

i know, these is a program calls "Variables Manager for SDL Trados Studio" this is only for Variables.
but i need someone like this for abbreviations.
