I'm afraid not understanding the question. .msi files are used by Windows Installer to install applications running under Windows. What did you install with your msi?
I don't know the madcap files specificities, but they are XML files, so "normal" text files. I know there is a dedicated App File Type Definition for MadCap Flare available for Studio 2014. Download and try it!
