Dear all

I am trying to uplaod an mdb file in a TM doing the following steps in SDL:

- From the home page, button Upgrade Translation Memory
- I select the file from the folder I have
- A window pops up telling me "The translation memory couldn't be loaded:
'Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

Can anybody help?

Thanks in advance
Anne

Missing some helpful information... May 18, 2015

... like the version of Studio you are using, and where thee MDB file came from?

If you can share the MDB that might also be helpful... and faster.
Regards

But where did the MDB come from? Do you know for sure it's a TM?

By "origin", I mean which tool/software created it. If you don't know, you can ask the person who gave it to you (I assume it is your client).

"mdb" is a rather common file extension, possibly used by several different translation tools. The extension of Studio TM's is "sdltm", while the extension of the old Trados TM's was "tmw" (extension of the main file, there were also four auxiliary files with other extensions), so it looks like "mdb" does not originate from the Trados world. The normal/standard way to exchange TM's between different tools is TMX. Nearly all tools on the market today can both import from and export to the TMX format. Your best bet may therefore be to request the TM in the TMX format.
