How to automatically add a fuzzy match suggestion in the translation segment?

Dear colleagues,

While working in Trados Studio 2015 we face the following problem:

The suggestion of a fuzzy match (shown above on screen) is not automatically copied to the translation segment. It stays empty.

Even a 92% match is not yet filled in.

So it does give a suggestion out of the TM but it cannot be used...

Does anybody know what should be done to make it work?

Looking forward for any ideas!

I have the opposite problem Nov 3, 2015

I like to see a good number of fuzzy matches on the screen above, but would rather choose matches under 100 % myself.

But the best match is automatically copied into my translation.

Change fuzzy value Nov 3, 2015

When choosing the batch task „Pre-Translate Files“ in the Home tab, just choose „Minimum match value“ e.g. 92% or 95% to show more matches or 100% for ignoring other matches.

Getting closer but still not working Nov 3, 2015

Dear Silke,

Thank you very much for your quick suggestion.

As I looked it was indeed set on 100%.

But when I change it to 70% (lowest possible) it still doesn't put the fuzzy matches in the segments.

Not even when they are 92%.

Do you, or anybody who reads this, have another idea worth trying?

Hi Hanno :-) Nov 3, 2015

Please check in the project settings if this TM is linked to "all language pairs" or to the specific language pair. If it is linked to specific language pair, try removing it from there and then add it to "all language pairs".

Maybe a silly question... Nov 3, 2015

...but is the "Apply best match after successful lookup" option checked in Options - Editor - Automation - Translation Memory frame?

Best regards,
Darius

"All language pairs" and "best match option" is checked Nov 3, 2015

Hello Nataliaicon_smile.gif

It is linked to "All language pairs".

Hello Darius,

Yes the "Apply best match after successful lookup" option is checked...

Thanks a lot both for your suggestions!

It looks like all settings are correct. But why is it not taking any fuzzy matches???

Anybody? All suggestions are welcomeicon_smile.gif

Re-attach? Nov 3, 2015

Hanno, try to remove the TM, close the project, close Studio, re-open Studio, re-open the project and re-attach the TM. This may seem weird, but such weird things are sometimes helpful.

Hello Natalia,

Thanks for your help!

I removed the TM, closed Studio, reopened again and put the TM back.

But not working so faricon_frown.gif

I really don't get it...

Concordance results Nov 4, 2015

If the above suggestions don't work, it sounds as if you're seeing a 92% match in the automatic concordance look-up, which is displayed directly on top of the translation results box if no fuzzy match is found.

So, in this case, the 92% match reflects how close separate words are matched from within the segment. It's not the segment as a whole.
You can confirm if this is the case by seeing which tab is active immediately below the results window. Is it the TM tab or the Concordance Results tab?

Concordance could be the case Nov 4, 2015

Dear Emma,

Thank you very much for your suggestion.

You are right! It comes from the Concordance results.

Do you know if there is a way how to insert this result into the translation segment so that you can change it there?

If this is concordance Nov 4, 2015

then highlight the text in the concordance window and press ctrl+alt+F3 - this will result in copying the highlighted text into translation segment.
