Using Trados 2015

Client needs translation memory export tmx
tm includes translation units
memory export concludes (without error message)
but the client isn´t able to open the tmx

P.S. Nov 13, 2015

Client receives no "error message", just the message that there is nothing to import.

I also opened xml in Editor, everything looks just fine.

And I created a new, empty TM and was able to import my xml and read the units.

TMX is not usually opened but imported for a new TM or CAT tool applications.
Tmx file is a text file and you can open with Notepad and other text editors without error [and see complicated coding]

Thank you for the comment Nov 13, 2015

Well, absolutely desperate after hours trying to solve the problem, I didn´t express it properly.

The client isn´t able to import the tmx.

Try to Zip Nov 13, 2015

I don't know if it is the same case, but I had a client that only received an empty file, instead of a TM, and after many attempts, he asked me to zip the TM, and send again, and it worked.

I hope it helps.

I can confirm this - one client is always having problems with tmx files I'm sending, unless I zip them. Certainly worth a try.

Also check the language codes Nov 18, 2015

Eva

As you did not specify what software your client uses, let me point out an additional reason why he may get zero imported entries.

Check the languages codes in the TMX file. SDL uses ISO language codes in the format "EN-US" or "EN-GB" Some other CAT tools use only a single code like "En", which may result in the import process skipping entries that have a non-matching language code.

Walter
