Comments, messages in SDL Trados Studio 2015

I'm a little confused about the different use scenarios for comments and messages?

When I look at the features for comments and messages in their respective views, they look about the same. So how are they used differently?

Comments are notes you insert in a segment (like a comment in Word).

Messages are QA warnings issued by Studio.
