Easy way to delete all target content?

Is there an easy way (perhaps even a plugin) to delete all content of all target segments? The normal procedure can take considerable time, especially in projects with thousands of segments.

Edit:

I should have written:

Is there a faster way ...

It depends - what do you consider the normal way?

Click in the first segment.
Scroll to the last segment via the slider.
Press Shift.
Click in the last segment.
Wait.
Open the context menu.
Select Clear.

As Erik said, it'd be useful to know more about what you are finding difficult in order to make sure you get the best advice, but (assuming you are using Studio 2015), this is how I do it:

In Editor mode, click on the first paragraph number on the left hand side.

Hold down the shift key and scroll to the end of the document.

Click on the last paragraph number to select all.

Click on 'Clear Target Segment' in the 'Home' ribbon at the top of the page.

There might be other ways, but this certainly doesn't take more than a few seconds.

But maybe your issue is more complicated?

Thanks, but it takes more time on my computer Mar 15, 2016

I'm on an iMac 5K with a very fast Core i7 but the selection of a couple of thousands of segments takes considerably more time than just a few seconds. So does the actual deletion process. So, I was just wondering: can this be done faster?

If not, I'll have to 'live' with iticon_wink.gif.

Thanks for your reply!

Bug? Mar 15, 2016

I've just tried it on a document with just under 2,000 segments and you're right, it took almost a minute and a half to clear the target column.

In fact, the programme stopped responding for quite a few seconds in the middle, after selecting the text but before deleting it.

Maybe if there is an SDL person on the forum they can shed light on what's causing it?

Sorry not to be of more help!

That's the quickest way I know Mar 15, 2016

Yes, this can take a considerable amount of time, which adds to the overall clumsy user experience with Studio. I don't know any faster way, though.

Try using... Mar 15, 2016

.... the sdlxliff toolkit from the OpenExchange. It's normally a lot faster and you don't need to open the file in the editor, and you can do multiple files or multiple projects even, in one go.

Why not try the new SDL Community

Thanks! (Should have remembered that one, especially since I read your enthusiastic article about it at that time icon_wink.gif)
