What is the smoothest and quickest way to upgrade from Studio and Multiterm 2014 to 2015? Do I need to uninstall any previous versions before installing Studio and Multiterm 2015?

And if I now have version 2011 and 2014 installed, can I just add 2015 and keep all 3 installed (both Studio and Multiterm)?

I found these instructions on SDL's website (http://www.sdl.com/cxc/language/translation-productivity/trados-studio/faqs.html):

Note: Customers upgrading their SDL Trados Studio Freelance Edition to Studio 2015 Freelance who don't deactivate their license can continue to run the Studio 2009/2011/2014 application alongside Studio 2015. Your previous version (2009/2011/2014) will be marked as inactive in your SDL My Account and will be automatically removed once the license is being deactivated.

But then on another place they say I should deactivate the license before upgrading.

You may but you don't ... Mar 31, 2016

... need to uninstall in case you want to run both versions (2014 and 2015) alongside for a transition period.

You need to return your license in your customer account in order to be able to get the license code for the 2015 version. This means that you will not be able to reactivate Studio 2014 in the future, but it will continue to run on the PC where it is currently installed as long as you don't deactivate it. This is what SDL is explaining in the instructions you mention.
In essence: you can keep using 20145, but only on this PC, You won't be able to transfer it to another PC.

Studio 2015 can be installed without any problem alongside 2014, as they are installed into different folders.

To simplify Walters words: Install 2015 and be happy with it. The rest still will be there, unless you buy a new computer or reinstall your old one. (sorry Walter)icon_smile.gif

TOPIC STARTER
Opportunity to use more languages Apr 2, 2016

Thanks Walter and Robert, worked fine to install.

Just found out it's a good opportunity to get a few more languages than the standard 5: just to keep old installations and then choose new languages in the latest version.

How about if I want to change languages in version 2014 (that I now have lost the license key for after having upgraded to 2015), can I still do that by re-installing on the same computer (now after version 2015 is already installed)?
