Hi everyone! I have encountered a small problem in translating my document with Trados Studio 2015.

While translating, I discovered 2 segments which should have been one are in 2 different paragraphs. I wanted to merge them but the command "merge segments" is not available for me. I searched for method on the Internet and found one but it seemed not to work for my case and seemingly, there's no other effective ways to handle this problem.

Does any here know how to fix this problem? Would you mind telling me? Thanks a lot.

As far as I'm aware, Trados won't let you merge segments from different paragraphs.

To get round this, edit your source document and delete the paragraph mark between the two segments. You’ll then find that you can merge the segments in Editor mode.

If you’ve already translated the document, open your modified source document as a new project, then retrieve your translated segments from your TM.

Hope that helps!

Merging segments Apr 13, 2016

Hello,

You can have a look at this very helpful article:
Merge segments not in same paragraph - article

However, keep in mind that the empty paragraph will be preserved in the final document and may impact text flow.

To prevent this situation in the future for Word and PowerPoint documents, you can remove incorrect paragraph and line breaks using Unbreaker tool (part of TransTools) prior to importing the document into Studio. You can read more about this here.

Can you specify which link does not work?

The article in Trados Studio manual is at:
