Hi,

As this is always usefull in case you chose a wrong language when installing Trados and reinstalling is quite time consuming:

While Trados is closed, using regedit, search the registry for the key LDSRClient. (In other versions of Studio it is called LDSRClient1 or 2, etc.) Right click the key and rename it to something else, like LDSRClient-saved. That's it! Close and restart Studio. Studio thinks you are using it for the first time and asks you to choose your languages again. Note that you must also reenter any changes you have made to other Studio preferences and projects with wrong (replaced) language codes will not work or might even get corrupted.

In my case for Trados 2015 it is LDSRClient4

so it might be that the order is:

Trados 2009: LDSRClient1
Trados 2011: LDSRClient2
Trados 2014: LDSRClient3
Trados 2015: LDSRClient4

Regards,
Pascal

Hi Pascal,

As rule of thumb we (SDL) would never recommend anyone going into the registry as other files could be corrupted unintentionally, possibly rendering the software (and PC) unusable for a considerable amount of time until the issue is found and resolved.

Although it may take a little extra time initially I would always suggest running the repair option (Locate Studio in Programs and Features- Right click- Run Repair allows you to change the languages set. Failing that then a re-install is the very best option.

Don't forget we also have an SDL (free) community at http://xl8.one- where professional help professionals and you are free to ask practically anything on or about Studio.
Here you will find quick help when you find that you are stuck (and maybe don't have a PSMA contract).

Kr

there are many cases, where a repair or even full un- and reinstall does not help solving that problem. You can find many such threads all over the net, even on SDL forums.
I had that problem twice on own PCs, it's quite annoying and frustrating to follow such long running steps and then seeing that it did not help at all, especially when you are already very tight on time and would need the system within a few minutes.

But of course you are right that fiddling with registry can lead also to problems. (see my comment at the end of the instructions)

Pascal
