Translation of a .CSV file with Studio 2011 - “This file type is not supported”

I need to translate a .CSV file (comma separated, and text within double-quotes) with Studio 2011 but when I try to open the document I receive the message “This file type is not supported”. The source file has 3 columns, with the source text in the third one. In Studio I’m using the Format settings shown below, while in Tag check I did not modify the default settings.
Everything should be fine and straightforward, however the prompt “This file type is not supported” keeps hunting me and I simply cannot open the file.
Apparently other translators involved in the same projects are not having this issue (I don’t know which version of Trados they are using).
(NB. As suggested by a colleague and various blog posts, in order to move on I also tried to convert the .CSV file to Excel, and to reconvert it to .CSV after translating but I’m faced with some formatting issues in the target file so that might not be an option.)
Thank you for any help
