Even if its people knew about it for a long time: https://community.sdl.com/solutions/language/translationproductivity/f/90/t/5952

Or is there a setting to handle this, please?

Do I really have to manually correct so many segments for such a simple bug?

Thanks,
Tomi

Do a find-and-replace Jan 30, 2017

You don’t need to correct them manually. It's a simple find-and-replace operation:

– Find this: -
– Replace with: –

Hit Replace All and you’re set. Or, if there are hyphens in your text that should remain hyphens, hit Replace.

Sorry, that is not a solution Jan 30, 2017

Thanks for trying Epameinondas, but that is N/A, there are many places where casual hypen is needed.

And.. Jan 30, 2017

... when hitting "replace" for each individual hypen - I call this manual job and takes a lot of time, completely unnecessarily.

Do you leave blank spaces around dashes? Jan 30, 2017

If you leave blank spaces around dashes, then:

- Find this: (?<= )-(?= )
- Replace with: –

Don't forget to have RegEx turned on.

Thank you! Jan 31, 2017

We are not using spaces, but you gave me the idea (and your ex works with another similar problem), I forgot about the regexes a bit, thanks a lot!

So this actually does it (in this project at least):
replace [0-9]-[0-9]
with [0-9]–[0-9]

Still hope to have a proper fix in the next update, SDL!

Not sure it works Jan 31, 2017

I don’t think that ‘[0-9]’ works as a replacement expression.

What you want is this:

– Find this: (?<\d)-(?=\d)
– Replace with: –

Or, to keep things simpler:

– Find this: (\d)-(\d)
– Replace with: $1–$2

Great, thanks! Jan 31, 2017

What does the dollar symbol represent though? Any number already in place?

Numbered group Jan 31, 2017

The dollar-prefixed numbers ($1, $2 etc.) are known as ‘numbered groups’ and replace the expressions enclosed in round brackets in the ‘find what’ expression.

So, in our case, $1 will replace the first (\d) (before the hyphen), and $2 will replace the second (\d) (after the hyphen).
