Copying new segmentation rules and abbreviation lists to several translation memories

I have a client who has more than ten translation memories and would like to be able to change segmentation rules and abbreviations for all of them.

Is there a way to copy the language resources settings or segmentation rules to several TMs or do I just need to create new TMs every time and export/import the units. This method seems unnecessarily cumbersome if you just want to "clone" the new abbreviations, for example, to all of your TMs in the same language pair.

TIA, Hannu

Language Resource Template Feb 7

Hi Hannu,

What you need to do here is to create a Language Resource Template. This is quite easy to do.

In the "Translation Memories" view in Trados Studio, you will see the "Language Resource Templates" listed below the translation memories in the menu on the left-hand side. Right click on this and you have the option to create a new one. Here you can specify segmentation rules, abbreviations etc., and save to a convenient location.

This template can then be applied to any TM. It will be necessary to re-index the TM before use.

Hope this helps.
