Which one do you advice to get?

If Wordfast is compatible with Trados, isn't it better to get the former?

If you work with Word-documents exclusively - buy Wordfast. If you work with many tagged document go with Trados.

What about all those jobs which specially request the use of Trados? Would they be ok if I told them I work with Wordfast?

You can export the TM in TMX-format, which is compatible w/ Trados, so yes, it is possible to use Wordfast for jobs which require Trados. I would, however, ask the client if it is ok to use WF instead of Trados. The way I see it, it's a matter of being honest.

If you've figured out how to work w/WF, it should be relatively easy to convert to Trados. ▲ Collapse
