You can export the TM in TMX-format, which is compatible w/ Trados, so yes, it is possible to use Wordfast for jobs which require Trados. I would, however, ask the client if it is ok to use WF instead of Trados. The way I see it, it's a matter of being honest.

Having used both, I find that Wordfast is better at many things (like building glossaries, going back and forth in the document, only one window, propagating, etc.), but Trados is a tad more stable to work with if the document has many formatting issues, large images, etc. Trados is by no means a super tool (I've damned its existence many a time), but I actually find that I use Trados instead of WF these days. If you've figured out how to work w/WF, it should be relatively easy to convert to Trados. ▲ Collapse
