Hi all,
This one is new on me. How do you handle index markers in MS Word documents?
- Index markers are hidden text and, under certain circumstances, they may be overlooked
- Is it enough just to replace the text inside the "function" markers within the target segment?
- Any general tips? I don't want to miss or unknowingly delete any...
Thanks,
-Mike-
(Sorry if this is old hat. Google and Trados documentation didn't help me.)

What CAT tool do you use? Oct 28, 2005

Many CATs take care of transferring the markers into the target during clean-up. Usually you may not change the code. But I'm not quite sure what your markers are. Links to other parts of the document like pictures?
Regards
Heinrich

Hi Heinrich,
Straight Trados and MS-Word.
Out of curiosity I saved the doc as an rtf and tried to open it in TagEditor. That didn't acheive anything at all, though.

In case anybody strays this way... I ended up manually translating each entry (after making them visible first) and then I checked that the number of entries in the index table concurred between source and target languages. I don't know of any secret recipes. -M-
