I will translate a XML document using tag editor. This text has a lot of repetitions. The client is asking me to send for reviewing only the new text. They do not want the reviewers to see the text that is already on the translation memory. I am not sure how to do this with tag editor. How do I send the reviewers only the new text?

I am still learning how to work with Tageditor. I have Trados 6.5 LSP.

Thanks a lot,

Ana Ramirez

check the filters for tag editor Nov 14, 2005

this should reflect all placeables, which are simultaneously repeats, other words which you have to physically translate are the new terms, revision would be to check the repeats and the new words as words, I guess the repeats would probably need be commented. Ask your client to send you the .ini and or .xml or .sgml settings files. I think infact you would be actually reviewing a .ttx or a similarly tagged file.I hope to have understood your problem. Not supported Nov 14, 2005

Hello,

ths functions isn't supported in TagEditor.

There are some possibilities:

1. Make an analysis before you translate an export all new segments. Translate them and send this export to your client.

2. Modify the final ttx file. In the ttx file you can mark or change the translation units which are 100% matches. After this your client can programm a tool for printig only the new segments.

3. You client use xtranslate. Then there is a possibility to mark xtranslated segments with another color in the ttx preview.

4. Ask Trados for a special plugin.

I know most of this wouldn't really help you.

Regards

Hans

A possible workaround Nov 14, 2005

Translate it

Open both XML (old and new) with an application like IE (if you can't, try Opera it has a good parser)

save both as html

open both in Word and compare the versions

Another workaround:

Make a Export as TMX with filters

created by
changed by
and
Last used
with the times you was working

then in a Texteditor you can "clean" it or better with a TMX Editor like Olifant
http://www.translate.com/technology/tools/Olifant.html

you can send back a Table with the segments you have translate
