I I have Trados 6.5 I exported the segmentation units with 99% matches or less to a txt file. I sent the file to a colleague for translation. I looked at the translation memory my colleague sent me and It looks fine, nice accents, everything seems to be ok. It is only when I import it into the big translation memory that those wired characters appear instead of accents. Why is this happening? Has this happened to any of you before? How did you solve it? Thanks a lot, Ana ▲ Collapse | | | Trados Version | Feb 24, 2006 |
Hello, which Trados version did you and your translator use ? If your Translator uses Trados 7, the standard export format is a unicode txt file. Trados 6 will import this file, but all not ansi standard chars are corrupt in the memory. Tell your translator to export in Trados 6 format. Thanks a lot for your response. I did not think about that before! I have Trados 6.5 My colleague has Deja vu 3.0 Could this be the problem? I do not know Deja vu. However, I created an empty memory with the txt file that my colleague sent me and the accents are fine. It is only when I imported it into the big translation I have, that the accents are ruined. I am looking forward to your comments Ana | | |
Hello, if you can import the file into a new memory the txt file should be ok. Try to check the database version of your old memory. Mabe it is an older memory and the database version is 3 or 5, then you should convert the memory to database version 6 (Export the old memory, create a new, import the memory). Sometimes it can happen that Trados will create empty source segment in older mememories (if database version isn't correct). In this cases you are not able ...
