I have problems adding and editing entries in MultiTerm 7.1. I've
tried it with files converted from Multiterm 5 and from Multiterm
6.5, with termbases created from scratch, and finally with the
sample file that Trados provides with the program. None worked.

Here's what happens: When I click on the language field and hit

fields "Type", "Definition", and "Source" when I left-click on the
greyed out fields in the Edit mode.

What is strange is that I CAN add terms to the termbase working
directly from Word (using the "add entry" icon).

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I'd be truly grateful for
any ideas.

TIA,

Found solution Jun 27, 2006

Hi all,

In the meantime, I received an answer to my posting elsewhere, the solution worked, and I thought I'd share it with you:

Open Multiterm
Press Add Entry [the screen opens with your language pair] like so:
language flag
a black dot in front of an empty, grey language field

Place the cursor on the black dot and click the mouse ONCE
The language field turns white [active]
Write your word in this white field.

Hi all,

Write your word in this white field.

To get out of the white field you can either click the mouse once on a non-active [dead] place on the screen, - or press Enter. Now the grey field contains your word.

If you want to correct a word in this "used" field, you can place the cursor on the field and press Enter - or you can place the cursor on the black dot and click the mouse ONCE.

Hope this helps someone who wrestles with this for a few days like I did!

thanks Sylvia Jul 4, 2006

That was a great explanation Sylvia because I have been struggling with the same problem as you for two days now - parts of Trados Help are crap at explaining things.

Thanks for help Mar 14, 2007

This really was a puzzling problem! Thank you very much. I tried the MT online help but did not find it all useful. This has saved me days and days of futile and frustrating work!
