I am working with Trados 7 Freelance but I am just a beginner, I've been sent a rtf file that saves as a word document.
when I open the word document it is encoded and if I try to open it with Tageditor it displays the message: (352576128): invalid RTF format and won't open.
How could I open this file with tageditor?
Thank you very much beforehand for your time.

I am not a specialist, but that is what I would do:
open the file in Word and save in rtf format again, at least to see what happens.

Looks like it is NOT an RTF file Jul 25, 2006

when I open the word document it is encoded

Can you tell more? If Word does not handle the file as expected, then the file is not what its extension claims it is.

I assume you use word 2003. Maybe the "RTF" file was created using some other, older version (or even software).

First of all thanks to all of you,

I already tried to save and change the type of file to rtf but it doesn't work.
In fact I'm using Word 2003, maybe that is the reason for it come up like this.

this is what comes up at the beginning of the document:

Does it help?

Thanks again

InDesign Jul 25, 2006

That's an InDesign file, not an RTF file. The file extension should be .isc.ttx. Change it if necessary and it should open just fine, provided you have Trados version 6.5 or higher.

HTH,
Benjamin

edit: Whoops, sorry. Scrap the .ttx extension - just .isc!

Thank you to every one, the agency told me that the file was actually not apt for using with tageditor. They sent me another one. Unbelievable.

Thanks again dear collegues!
