Reminds me of a bizarre problem I had some time ago. TagEditor (both 6.5 and 7) kept crashing on the word "methylated" in a segment, but worked fine with "ethylated". Sure enough, I found that in MS Word 2000, spellchecking rejected the first but accepted the second. Strange, because both are valid words. TagEditor problem resolved by unticking TagEditor Tools/Plug-ins/Spelling Checks for Word Spelling Checker.

I've given up trying to use spellcheck in TagEditor. I always copy the whole document to Word and do the spellcheck there.

Do you copy the cleaned TTX and paste it into Word or what? And what is with the TM? How do you bring all the corrections into the TM? with the Maintenance in Workbench? To much work!

They are not only Word files converted to TagEditor format. I have sent a support request to Trados, but no reply until now - it seems like they don't have a solution for this isue. A few days ago I experienced the same problem. It got fixed, apparently once I saved the spellchecking backup template after rebooting the system. I had to deactivate the spellchecking function in tag editor to be able to complete my work. I spellchecked the target text though. Welcome to the frusTRADOS Club! Elías
Yes, it is a big problem | Aug 14, 2006 |

Elías It seems as wen you open a file in Word, Excel, Outlook or some other Office program with different languages definitions on it at the same time, the template goes crazy and you have to delete the "limbo hanging" spellchecker dot file (and normally some other too). I don't know how to avoid it, each week I have to search for this ~ files and delete it. I think it is not good to let Word recognize the languages automatically.

The source text becomes hidden. And what is with the TM? How do you bring all the corrections into the TM? with the Maintenance in Workbench? I make the changes in TagEditor. I agree it's not very practical, but I don't maek taht many typso. To much work! Yes, but it's the only working option for me. At least until I reinstall Trados.

What I do normally is to correct the final files, copy&paste the corrections into a txt, and then search&replace all changes into a export of the TM with Ultraedit, create a new TM and import the corrected TM as txt (if needed I import the filter and project settings too). It must be a easier solution, but I don't know how.
