Dear colleagues,

I'm thinking about upgrading my TRADOS 6.5 to SDL Trados 2006 Freelance.
In the website's shopping basket, additional "Freelance Materials Packs" are offered for €55 each. I cannot find any information about what these contain, though.
Can anyone shed some light on this question, or give me a hint where to find this information on the sdl website (or anywhere else)?
Does anybody own one of these packs and would like to share his opinion about them?

Many thanks in advance!

SDL should really put more effort into their website ...

The only place where the "Freelance Materials Pack" is mentioned on their current website is the shopping basket, as you say. And the shopping basket is sorely lacking the option of clicking on the individual products in the basket to view the product details (standard for online shops, in my opinion) ...

Since that was a dead-end, I googled for "freelance materials pack". Not sure if this is what you're looking for.

"The SDL Trados 2006 Freelance Materials Pack includes:
SDL Trados 2006 Freelance product CD

SDL Trados 2006 Freelance installer which includes all user guides in PDF, tutorials, and release notes

SDLX installer, which is part of SDL Trados 2006 and includes user documentation in PDF, tutorials and release notes

Adobe Acrobat Reader 5, for your convenience

SDL MultiTerm Desktop product CD

SDL Trados 2006 Freelance Getting Started Guide (printed version)."

Here's another link:

It means you get two CDs - one with Trados and the other with Multiterm - and a very thin volume as a kind of introduction to the software. At 55 euros it's only worth the money if you haven't got a broadband connection to download the programs yourself (don't forget, they add on a delivery charge onto the 55 euros as well!).

The intrinsic value of the uprade Oct 25, 2006

is the improved compatibility with the XP/Office 2003 environment. - the usual case of "not-the-1.0-but-the-next-one"release

How they sell it, is of course a differenr story.
