Dear Trados users,

I desperately need to convert Trados native TM (tmw) into something I can use in Wordfast (txt or tmx).
I got a TM from a friend, but she forgot to covert it before she went abroad and now I have no contact with her. And the deadline is upon me....
I tried to dowload demo version of Trados, but when I try to open the TM I get a message that it's too big for demo version.
Can anyone suggest a solution (an external conversion tool perhaps) or possibly be so kind and convert it for me?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Best regards,
Pawel

Try Olifant Oct 31, 2006

Olifant is a free TM maintenance tool. It supports both Trados and Wordfast TMs.

You can simply open the Trados TM and then just save as Wordfast (or in a Wordfast compatible format).

You can find it here: http://www.translate.com/technology/tools/Olifant.html

All the best!

Olifant can't open native Trados TM's (tmw) Oct 31, 2006

FWIW, Olifant will open TM's in the Trados TXT format, but not TM's in the native (tmw) format. The native format is proprietary and can't be manipulated by third-party applications.

tried Olifant... Oct 31, 2006

...but with no luck - I only had Trados tmw file and Olifant did not recognize the file as a TM file.
Luckily a friend helped me with the conversion...
But thanks for the reply.

Ooops! Oct 31, 2006

I read the question wrong. I thought Pawel wanted to convert TMX files, not TMW. Sorry!

Olifant IS a great tool though!
