Dear all,

I am trying to convert an Excel sheet with Multiterm Convert (7.0), but everytime I start the converting process, just after having selected the source file (Excel 2000 with no blank columns) I get the error message: "The converting option could not be iniciated properly" or something like this.
I tried also with other Excel formats, but no way!

Any help?
Thanks a lot,
Francisco

It's a Via dolorosa alright Nov 1, 2006

but let me help you this way:

if you send me your excel spreadsheet, I can send you the result plus the list of things you need to do differently next time

PS: I may even end up writing an article about it.

Thank you! Nov 2, 2006

Dear Vitomir,

thank you so much for your help. Unfortunately I am not allowed to do so since I signed a confidentiality agreement with my client.

Nevertheless I found the solution: I have to upgrade Office 2000 to Office 2002. That's way Trados Customer Service told me. Other way is to convert the Excel sheet in a non-tab text and then continue the nomal Multerm Convert process as it were a Datasheet.

Thank you very much, Vitomir

Hae you had a look at the TRADOS support page? Nov 2, 2006

I get the error message: "The converting option could not be iniciated properly" or something like this.

Is the message you are getting actually this one?

"Conversion option could not be initialised properly"

If so, what version of Excel are you using? Is it Excel 97?

Have you had a look at this article in the Trados KB?

http://support.trados.com/view.asp?cntID=1348

If this is not the source of the problem, could it be that you have limited access to the c: drive? Have a look at this other article:

http://support.trados.com/view.asp?cntID=1291

To tell the truth, I don't find the conversion process so difficult, once you know what you are doing but it is true that it is not so straightforward.

Daniel

Thanks Nov 2, 2006

You are absolutely right.
The problem was that I have Excel 2000.
I will upgrade it to 2003.

Thanks a lot
