I purchased and installed 2006 SDL TRADOS Freelance Edition, and Multiterm.

I cannot run Multiterm Extract. Every time I launch it I get an error message: "Error 101. Failed to initialize."

I found 2 or 3 discussions about this problem and comments about a supposed relation to the Java environment version. I have the latest Java Version.

Any help will be appreciated. I am stuck with something that I cannot use.

Sorry. Multiterm 7.

Extract is a product you have to purchase separately Dec 10, 2006

As far as I know, its entry is still around in recent installations for compatibility/historical reasons.

I did Dec 10, 2006

I purchased it separately from TRADOS, and every other Multiterm component works fine.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

SDL says it's a java problem Dec 11, 2006

Hi Luisa,

Here's what SDL Customer Help says:

Answer ID 1671

When I run MultiTerm Extract I receive Error #101 "Error initializing". How can resolve this problem?

Answer
This error is caused by problems with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) platform installed on your computer.

To resolve this problem please try the following:

1. Go to Start- Settings - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and remove MultiTerm and all versions of Java Runtime Environment you have installed.
2. Reinstall MultiTerm. Only proper version of JRE will be installed.

This is not the appropriate version Dec 11, 2006

Wrong. You need the same Java version that was provided with your Multiterm installer. Don't forget to switch off automatic updates for Java.

Thanks a lot Dec 11, 2006

Thanks Giles. I will try this and, hopefully, that will solve my problem.
Thanks Wojciech. Knowing me, I would forget to turn off the automatic updates option.
