I have accepted a translation for a company I have already worked for, so I have used before their TM and everything has been OK. Now I have another translation for them, very urgent, and I have encountered a problem: when I open the files to be translated, TagEditor says: 'The open TM has different languages than the document. Interaction with Translator's Workbench will be disabled until a matching TM is opened.' The thing is: It is the TM the company told me to use, and the languages a... See more
I have accepted a translation for a company I have already worked for, so I have used before their TM and everything has been OK. Now I have another translation for them, very urgent, and I have encountered a problem: when I open the files to be translated, TagEditor says: 'The open TM has different languages than the document. Interaction with Translator's Workbench will be disabled until a matching TM is opened.' The thing is: It is the TM the company told me to use, and the languages are the same than the ones specified in the file (US English > Spanish). I am trying to solve the problem but I can't find a solution, so if you can help me, I will be very grateful. Thanks very much!!! ▲ Collapse

Open the ttx in Notepad

and change the codes for source language and target language correspondingly to your TM. For English-US the code is EN-US. I'm sorry, but I don't know he code for Spanish - so just please look at your TM export for the proper code. You can find the language codes at the very beginning of your ttx file. After you've changed them simply save ttx using the CTRL+S command in Notepad - from then on you will be able to open it with your TM.

should work
Mar 25, 2007
i used this method for several occasions. it takes few steps, but should not be too hard. - export the tm to ttx - open the ttx in word, as it is easier to 'replace all' the language codes - change EN-US to ES-EM1 - change ES-EM to EN-US - change ES-EM1 to ES-EM - save as ttx, not doc - make a new tm - import the ttx into the new tm

Hi Mulyadi,
Are you sure you don't mean tmx or txt? TTX is usually not an option when import/exporting from a Trados TM.
