Hello! First, sorry for my bad english. I have a question about Trados 6.5. I have to translate a lot of excel files and it seems that it does not function with Trados. How can I open Trados in Excel and work with it? Thanks Kadu

I am not sure Trados 6.5 handles Excel files. I am now using a newer version Trados 7.5 whch is part of SDL Trados 2006 package and do not remember about Trados 6.5. In Trados 7.5 it works the following way: 1. Open TagEditor and you will be prompted that Trados Workbench is not running. Open the Workbench after receiving the prompt. If you do not have the translation memory which you intend to use with the excel files, create a new one. 2. In TagEditor select Menu/File/Open New an... Alexey is absolutely right, today I was having the same problem (actually, my problem is Trados 6.5 not working with Office 2007 Word files, even if I converted them to 97-2003 files), but it works when you are dealing with excel files using Tag Editor. The only thing is that I cannot see any box showing the "Type of files", I can only select File/Open ... then the directory window with the file list opens.

If I remember | May 16, 2007 |
Trados 6.5 was only able to import Excel into TagEditor after a certain service pack (something like 6.5.5.438, 6.5.5.439 or perhaps 6.5.5.441). So, what comes after 6.5 in your "About"? Antonin

I have exactly the same problem, but with version 7.5.0.759. When trying to open an Excel file, I get: "Failed to create file parser Trados.ExcelFileParser2" and then: "(80005): Failed to create parser for plugin file format!". I only have this problem on my new computer with Windows Vista an Word 2003. On my old computer with XP an Word 2003 it works perfectly.

Hi, Kadu, Have you ever tried to adjust macro situation with your excel? Change macro level can solve this kind of problem sometimes, of course not all of them, but it's worth a try.

I fixed it by running a repair installation using the updated setup files that were released in February - make sure to run it in compatibility mode. Right click on Setup.exe, click on properties, on the compatibility tab - check Windows XP. Then run the setup as usual. Choose Repair.
