Hi,

I've just created a new TM and I want to send it to my client as a .tmx file. I've tried to export the TM but it does not work. It says "export succesfully finished" but not a single unit has been exported. I've also tried to export the TM as a .txt file.

Can someone be of any help?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Samia

New, empty TM? Jun 1, 2007

Well, if the TM is new and you haven't used it for translation, there are no units in it...

Hi Jorgen,

Actually, I did use it for translation. There are 45 units.

Filter constraints? Jun 1, 2007

Have you set any filter constraints in the Export window?
If you can't make it work, you're welcome to zip the TM and send it to me. Then I'll see what I can do.

Hi Samia,

Typically, you should be able to right-click on the folder where the 5 TM files are located, and there should be a context menu prompting you that the folder will be zipped.

BTW, how did you verify that the tmx was empty?
You opened it in a text editor and the content was completely blank? Or did it contain the routine start/end file chars from the creation?!

Did you try alternative exporting modes, like exporting to different versions of tmx (v1.1 versus v1.4) or as txt?

Zip Jun 1, 2007

Hi again,

I've zipped the folder.

I realised the tmx was empty because the file was very light so I opened it in Tag Editor; it contained the routine start/end file chars from the creation.

I also tried alternative exporting modes (1.1, 1.4 and txt).

May I send you the zipped folder and to which e-mail address?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Samia

Same Problem Jun 29, 2007

Hi,

I'm using Trados 7 and I'm trying to export a TM. I've tried .txt and .tmx and nothing works. It says it was exported successfully, but indicates 0 TUs. Does anybody know what's going on? This is the first time I'm trying to export using Trados 7, but I was used to Trados 6 and it's the same process.

Thank you.

Do not complete the field list Jun 29, 2007

Hi Mirna,

To successfully export your TM, don't complete the field list, just click OK. It should work.
