Hi, everyone....
I have a question for you guys. i believe you guys can give me some solutions.
Here is it.
OS: windows xp pro + sp2
Office 2000, Trados 3

When i translate english to french, it appears word with symbols like this and error message.

RA©frigA©rateur

Refrigerator ---> RA©frigA©rateur

Actually, our french memory was ok. However, suddenly it doesn't seem to be working correctly.

Please inform me any idea about this problem.

I have been trying to fix it up but i got nothing solved.
I think that the french memory is corrupted.

Without knowing for sure... Jul 11, 2007

... I would say that the problem is using Trados 3 (a very old version) with Office 2000. I don't think the two are compatible. Was the TM created in Trados 3?

There is nothing wrong with using Trados 3 with Office 2000. They are compatible. And there is no reason for one to upgrade a complete package (Trados+Office +Windows) if the agency sends TM in translator's workbench format.

TM was created in Trados 3.

It was ok before.
So, i tried to create other TM for french, which i received from
friend who is doing a translation for English to French.

I imported new TM on Trados 3 and made a new one.
However, it has a same problem.

Is it because i am using a windows xp pro? or do i have to check out the fonts?

Did you receive it as a TM file (in fact 5 files), or did you receive it as a TMX or Translator's Workbench format and imported to your TM. What version does your friend use? I assume if s/he exports the memory as Translator's Workbench 2.x - 6.x text format, there will be no problem.
