Dear all
Unfortunately some of my clients use different versions of Trados.
I currently use Trados 6.5 and I want to upgrade 8.0.
However, since some of my clients use 7.5 I can translate these files only with 6.5 and not with 8.0, as far as I know since the translated files will not work for them.
Is it possible to use both versions on the same pc?
What are the risks and which problems could I encounter (if any).
Thanks in advance!

dear channa,
you can have as many versions installed as you like provided you install each one into its own directory and run only one version at a time.
I wouldn't advise installing ver. 8.0 yet--please see other threads about it.
version 7.5 (aka 2006) should do for your tasks.
good luck,
pavel

Hi Channa,
This all depends on what format you're expected to deliver.
If we're talking about .DOC, .HTML, .PPT, .XML and pretty much every other standard format: Once you've cleaned the files, they are completely transparent, and for the end client it makes no difference whether you've used 8.0 or 6.5.
But if the client expects you to deliver .TTX (with attached TMW memory?) it's a different story, since these are Trados proprietary formats, and not 100% compatible between versions.
In that specific case, you'd better follow Pavel's advice.
Perhaps you can clarify?
/Jan
