When Tag Editor doesn't let you add an unknown term it may well be that your standard user dictionary in Word 2003 is set for "all languages". As soon as you change it to the language you're working with, you can immediately add new terms.

This is no problem with Word itself but only within Tag Editor.

How irritated I was clicking "Ignore all" over and over again!
Thank you for sharing your discovery with us.
It works with SDLX too.
