Trying to clean up an Excel file in Tag Editor 2007. Using Clean up in Workbench or "Save target as" in Tag Editor results in the same error mesage, namely:

"Connection with server application error. You typed an invalid name for a sheet or chart. Make sure that the name you type does not exceed 31 characters. Your name does not contain any of the following characters. You did not leave the name blank"

Anyone had this one? Grateful for any experiences.

Martin

Two hints Sep 23, 2007

Hi Martin,

1) Check that the name of the sheet (appears on a tab at the bottom of the Excel file) you translated in TagEditor does not exceed 31 characters. If so, find a shorter translation for it

2) Check if you don't have a cell beginning with the symbol =
If so, temporarily delete this sign in your ttx file and restore it in the Excel file after the clean up is complete...

That are the 2 problems I have encoutered...

HTH,
Sylvain

Problem solved (for now!) Sep 24, 2007

Hello Sylvain,

Thanks for your efforts. The problem in this case seems to have been something similar. Removing the hyperlinks from the Excel file finally did the trick.
