Hello,
recently, I never had this problem before, I tried to clean up the word files done in trados via the Clean Up... option. But during the cleaning process, my cpu usage jumps to 100% and my computer is blocked I have to terminate the process.

What is going on here...

Regards,
Mirza

Hi Mirza,
Please help us to help you by (i) indicating which software version you're using; and (ii) specifying which file type you're working with when the problem occurs.

Please note the instructions indicated when posting a new forum topic.

Best regards,

File type? Nov 26, 2007

Hi again,

I'm afraid not - hence my question about the file type (or the underlying file type if it's a TTX file you're trying to clean).

Please review the information given for new topics:

When asking for help, make sure that you:
- indicate the file format(s) involved
- specify each software package that is relevant to your posting, identifying the version with the *full* version number
- describe the step(s) or process(es) which have triggered the problem.
This will help others to help you.

Regards,
Ralf

here it is :-) Nov 26, 2007

indicate the file format(s) involved

word documents that need to be cleaned up with trados

- specify each software package that is relevant to your posting, identifying the version with the *full* version number

Trados 6.5 Freelance

- describe the step(s) or process(es) which have triggered the problem.

1. open trados
2. go to tools
3. select "clean up..."
4. add a word document that was translated using trados
5. start cleaning up
6. then the computer hangs and the processor is 100% in usage
7. I have to terminate all processes

Cleanup macro Nov 26, 2007

Hi Mirza,

this happens quite often with heavy *.doc files containing a lot of formatting and/or screenshots/graphics/images. And, once the process is over - can take aeons, one gets to know that TWB could not clean the fileicon_wink.gif

In these cases I simply use the TW4 cleanup macro from within MSWord - uncleaned file open of course: from MSWord dropdown menu tools - macro, select "tw4winClean.Main" and click on run. Your file will be cleaned in a sec. Should your client need the uncleaned file as well, make sure you save a copy of the uncleaned file in another folder - your TM will not be updated (in case you have manually edited the target without opening/closing/saving the relative segment).
